Head of School Margaret Dorrance has been the Head of School at the Calgary French and International School (CFIS) since April 2012.
Margaret has accumulated nearly thirty years of distinguished academic leadership and professional development achievements in both the private and public school environments. Margaret came to CFIS from another prestigious local private school, Strathcona-Tweedsmuir, where she served as Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and previously a Director of Academics. Over the course of her ten years at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir, Margaret contributed to the creation of two strategic plans, and was one of the key people responsible for the implementation of these plans. Director of Primary Education (Preschool to Grade 3) Nikki Abrioux-Camirand joined our team as the Primary Director in 2009. She recently completed her Master's Degree in Education, specializing in Second Language Teaching. Previous to that Nikki completed a Bachelor's degree in Education at the Faculté Saint Jean, University of Alberta. She has been an educator for the past 15 years and has experience with English, French immersion and francophone programs. Nikki has taught from Early Childhood to grade 10 and has been school and district curriculum coordinator for the public sector. |

Director of Jr/Sr High School Ahmed Amrouche is a native Algerian raised and schooled in a French school system. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from a University of Algiers and a Master’s degree in Education Admistration from University of Sherbrooke, Quebec. Ahmed has 30 years of teaching experience in Algeria, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta. He has taught from Grade 7 through 12 in French Immersion, francophone and English settings. For two consecutive years, he taught at the University of Sherbrooke as a seasonal instructor. In addition to his teaching experiences, Ahmed has served public education in several leadership roles including as a consultant for BC Ministry of Education, Department head, Team leader, Vice Principal and recently as Principal of a Junior/Senior High school. |

Director of Admissions A mother of two teenagers, Karen has a Bachelor of Public Relations degree from Mt. St. Vincent University in Halifax. She has a background in corporate training, and has worked and volunteered in schools in Halifax, Toronto and Calgary. Karen joined CFIS in August 2008.

Director of Information Technology A native French-Canadian from Québec City, Quebec, Gilbert moved to Alberta in July 1998 to join a national telecommunications company after working for twelve years in the education field in Québec City. After 5 years in the telecommunications industry, he came back to education with a francophone public schoolboard located in Calgary for 5 and a half years before joining CFIS. Gilbert enjoys traveling, music and attending technical training at SAIT. |

Director of Elementary (Gr 4-6) Robert Ward has been an educator for 30 years and has been with CFIS since 1989. He is actively involved with student assessment with Alberta Education.
On a personal level, he attends many dramatic performances and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren. |
